Ukraine and Poland agree on conditions to unblock the border: what are they
The Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland agreed on an action plan to unblock the border. The parties agreed on common positions and reached an understanding of compromise solutions and their implementation.
This was reportedby the Ukrainian ministry on Facebook. It was noted that the relevant topic was discussed on December 20 by the heads of the ministries Oleksandr Kubrakov and Dariusz Klimczak and continued on December 22 by their deputies Serhii Derkach, Yurii Vaskov and Paweł Gancarz.
"The parties have reached an understanding of compromise solutions and their implementation. The next stage is negotiations at the level of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland and the protesters," the statement said.
The agency also added that the issue of amendments to the current Agreement on the Liberalization of Freight Transportation is not being discussed.
As a reminder, on December 18, the blockade of the largest checkpoint on the border between Poland and Ukraine, Yagodyn-Dorohusk, resumed. It may last until spring, and not only Polish carriers but also farmers are going to participate in it. As a result, all four cargo checkpoints on the border between Ukraine and Poland were blocked.
The organizers of the protest plan to let only 1 truck through per hour. At the same time, they inform that vehicles carrying security and humanitarian cargo, as well as those transporting animals, perishable food, etc. will be allowed to pass. The protesters do not plan to interfere with the movement of buses.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the demands of Polish farmers who joined the blockade of the Polish border are not the same as those of the carriers. The farmers want to ban sugar from Ukraine and get cash payments from their government.
