The European Football Union (UEFA) has published the final decision on the appeal of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) against the punishment of September 20, 2023. A month ago, the UEFA Disciplinary Committee penalized the UAF after the match with Italy in the 6th round of the 2024 European Championship qualifiers due to the racist behavior of its fans.

The UAF was ordered to pay 20,000 euros and close part of the stands during its next home match under the auspices of UEFA.

After considering the appeal, the fine was reduced to 15 thousand euros. At the same time, UEFA upheld the penalty for using pyrotechnics and blocking public passages. The fine amounted to 13,000 euros.

The decision to partially close the stands also remains in effect. Initially, the next home match of the Ukrainian team was supposed to be a match against Northern Macedonia, but since the UAF filed an appeal, the dates have shifted and now Ukraine will be punished in the final game of the Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy.

The UAF will be obliged to close 5,000 seats for its fans, informing UEFA which sectors will be empty. The UAF is also prohibited from selling tickets to its fans for the national team's next away match under the auspices of UEFA.

On November 20, Rebrov's team will compete with Italy for second place in Group C, where they are likely to win with a difference of more than 2 goals (the Italian team may still stumble against Northern Macedonia).

However, the day before the game (November 19), Ukrainians can get a guaranteed ticket to the playoffs.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that Ukraine is likely to play in the same pool as Israel, Finland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the playoffs for the 2024 European Championship if it fails to qualify for the tournament directly.
