Turkish hotel cleaner throws Russian man's Balenciaga sneakers into trash bin
The brand new Balenciaga sneakers of a Russian man who was vacationing in a five-star hotel in Turkey found their perfect place in the trash. They ended up there after the maid of the Elegance Hotel cleaned the traveler's room.
According to Tourdom, the Russian didn't even have time to put them on. He went shopping in Marmaris and bought a pair of brand new Balenciaga. The sneakers were in a branded bag in the room, and the man decided not to hide them because he was not worried about the safety of his belongings.
After the Russian man noticed their absence, he contacted the administration, where the hotel staff reported that the cleaner had mistaken the package for garbage and thrown it away with all the other waste. The man was not offered compensation for the loss of his property.
The Russian man believes that his brand new shoes could not have been mistaken for garbage and that the maid probably took them for herself. Interestingly, he decided not to call the police because he did not know how to sue a hotel in a foreign country.
Interestingly, appeals to the tour operator and guide also did not help the man. According to Russian lawyers, he didn't need to go to court, he should have informed the police about the incident. Moreover, the tour operator, not the hotel, should have been held liable for such a theft in the first place.
As you can imagine, the Russian did not follow the necessary procedure to at least get his money back. Thus, he was left without famous sneakers and without money but with brand new fear of leaving personal belongings in hotel rooms.
Earlier, it was reported that Russian tourists began to complain about the state of beaches and cities in their country towards the end of the holiday season. They emphasize the huge amount of alcohol, a large number of drunk people, high prices, rotavirus, aggressive behavior and threats to children.
