In the summer, you want to take a break from your work routine, but few people want to spend all their money on relaxation. A travel expert gave six useful tips on how to save money during a vacation.

First, you should plan your trip in advance so that you can catch considerable discounts for early booking. Secondly, it is better to give up the all-inclusive service, which is a favorite of many, Express writes.

Eurocamp travel expert Karen Williams emphasized six important aspects when planning summer travel.

Midweek rule

The prices for many flights on Saturday and Sunday increase. Therefore, the expert advises buying tickets for transportation that departs in the middle of the week. "There are many companies that don't have fixed departure or arrival days, so you're free to choose your travel date," Williams said.

The travel guide also advised not to limit yourself to a traditional week or ten-day vacation. "Play with the length of your trip by a few nights. And if you're flying, choose the duration that will allow you to get the best flight prices," Karen suggested.

Train instead of plane

Family trips entail serious bills, especially if you travel by plane. So the expert advises looking for an alternative to flying. If, for example, you choose a car, you will not have to stand in long lines at airports in addition to saving money. "Looking for different types of transportation can give you serious savings. There are all sorts of great deals out there, and it's not hard to look for alternatives," Williams emphasizes.

Travel with friends or family

A great tip is to split the cost of your accommodation with friends or family. This will help you save a lot on your trip. "Vacation homes are ideal for a large number of people and allow you to book accommodation at a fixed price, not per person," the travel expert added.

Book as early as possible

Early booking significantly saves your travel budget. After all, the best prices and deals are usually available when they first go on sale. And for "super-organized people," Karen Williams advises planning a vacation a few months or even six months to a year in advance so that you can save a lot of money on travel.

It's also worth deciding on the travel season. "Looking at the early or late season, you can reduce costs. For those traveling with children, look for the last weeks of school holidays before September, which are usually cheaper than the main part of the school holidays," Karen emphasized.

And if you are traveling without children, you should plan your vacation for late May or early September when there is no influx of travelers with children who go to school at this time. And these months are more comfortable for traveling to equatorial countries, where excessive heat reigns in summer.

Give up the all-inclusive service

When traveling on an all-inclusive program, companies spend a lot of money on food. Instead, self-catering accommodations can help you save a lot of money. "You don't even need to go out to enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal. You can even bring your own food into your vacation home and be sure that your kids have their favorite snacks," the travel expert said.

Search for discounts

The expert advises signing up for email notifications from vacation providers to keep up with the best deals. "Many companies have a 'deals' tab on their websites. Check this tab regularly as discounts are often limited," Karen Williams emphasized.
