The most hospitable cities in the world are named

For five years in a row, tourists from all over the world have been rating the world's most hospitable cities using the online hotel booking service Booking. The winner is determined by evaluating key criteria: friendly hotel staff, friendly airport staff, warm hospitality, and excellent service in other places travelers visit.

The Italian city of Matera topped the list of the most hospitable places for the first time. The full list was published on the website Вooking.com.

Tourists left "stars" on a ten-point scale in the service's app. They evaluated not the cost of hotel accommodation or the services received, but the relationship between staff and guests.

Matera turned out to be the friendliest place, with a very high average score of 9.9. This ancient cave city, located in the Italian region of Basilicata, is known for its rock settlements. They are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Slovenian Bled is located one step down. A small town with a population of about 5 thousand people is popular among tourists who love quiet picturesque resorts. The Bled Castle, built in the XI century, is located on a cliff overlooking the lake, and the Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands on a small island in the center of the reservoir.

Tainan, a city in the eastern part of Taiwan, won the bronze medal among the most hospitable places. It is characterized by an excellent environmental situation and will appeal to those who dream of swimming in the Pacific Ocean. As it turned out, there are also a lot of hospitable people here.

Nafplio in Greece, Toledo in Spain, Monti Verdi in Brazil, Bruges in Belgium, Nusa Lembongan in Indonesia, Ponta Delgada in the Azores, and Hoi An in Vietnam also made it to the top 10.
