The list of the most anticipated models of the year includes many electric cars

The shift of the car market to electric vehicles and the development of technology promise us an interesting 2024 model year. Experts already point out that the variety of new models will be impressive.

The British publication Autoexpress has selected the most anticipated cars of the year from key automakers. Here are the most intriguing novelties that its experts have named.

Audi A6 e-tron

The German brand continues to develop in the direction of electric vehicles. The range of all-electric models will expand even further in 2024, when the Q6 e-tron SUV will be launched, followed by the elegant A6 e-tron. It is positioned as a sportsback sedan with an interior inspired by the good old Avant family wagon. The model will be based on the Premium Platform Electric platform developed jointly with Porsche. It will be equipped with a 100 kWh battery that can provide a range of approximately 650 km.

BMW X2

The original BMW X2 was a slightly sportier counterpart to the current X1 small SUV on which it was based. However, the new generation X2 will have a more aggressive look, like the larger BMW X4 and X6 coupe SUVs. The updated model offers more interior space and the latest version of the BMW iDrive infotainment system. In addition to several versions of powerful internal combustion engines and a hybrid setup, the lineup will include an all-electric all-wheel drive version of the iX2.

Dacia Duster

This model has already gained considerable popularity among both drivers and experts. The third generation Duster will have a fresh interior design and bold exterior. Customers will be offered an updated infotainment system with a 10.1-inch touchscreen. The CMF-B platform will provide less vibration and road noise. Also, various trims will offer new transmission options, including a full hybrid system.

Ford Mustang

The updated version of the famous muscle car will feature a 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces 439 hp in the base configuration and 446 hp in the high-performance Dark Horse version. The interior will feature many new features for the model, including a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster that merges with the 13.2-inch center display. The car will be equipped with the company's latest infotainment system SYNC 4. The car will be available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

In a short period of time, Hyundai's N Performance division has made quite a reputation for itself. This year, it's adapting the electric car to a hot hatchback with the launch of the Ioniq 5 N. The faster, tougher version of the popular model produces 641 hp and 740 Nm of torque thanks to a twin-motor setup. One of the newest features of the Ioniq 5 N is called N e-shift. Essentially, this system adjusts the vehicle's torque output to provide a gentle push and give the impression of shifting gears. The driver can control the car manually using the steering wheel switches or leave the car in automatic mode.

MINI Aceman

By the end of the year, the MINI family will have three electric vehicles to choose from. The electric versions of the new MINI Cooper three-door hatchback and MINI Countryman will be joined by the all-new MINI Aceman. Its presentation will take place in April at the Beijing Motor Show. The Aceman will use the same platform as the electric MINI Cooper under its massive, square body. It will be powered by a 54.2 kWh battery, which should provide a range of approximately 400 km.

Peugeot 3008

The Peugeot 3008 was conceived as a lightweight MPV, but in the process has evolved into a stylish family SUV. In its third generation, it looks more like a coupe than ever. However, its design has sporty features. Distinctive elements of its style include LED running lights in the form of three stripes in front, stylish wheel design and clear body lines. At the same time, it will offer an updated interior, 520-liter luggage space, a 21-inch screen and the familiar Peugeot i-Toggle touchscreen with shortcut buttons. The 3008 will also be the first car to use the all-new STLA M platform developed by Peugeot's parent company, Stellantis.

Porsche Macan

After 10 years since the launch of the original Porsche Macan, the time has come for the completely updated second generation of the model. It is now fully electric and built on the Premium Platform Electric platform. Each Macan in the lineup is equipped with a twin-motor powertrain with two variants to choose from: Macan 4 with 402 hp and a range of 610 km or the high-performance Macan Turbo. Both versions also have a 100 kWh battery and a maximum charging speed of 270 kW, which is the same as the Porsche Taycan.

Skoda Elroq

The all-new Skoda Elroq will be a smaller electric continuation of the super-popular Skoda Enyaq SUV. Despite its smaller size, the new model is built on the same MEB platform. The space inside the Elroq should be the same as that of its big brother and include plenty of room for passengers behind and a spacious trunk. The new design code of the Czech car brand Modern Solid will provide it with a more refined style.

Volvo EX90

The world has been waiting for Volvo's new flagship SUV for a long time, and the successor to the reliable XC90 has pleased with its fresh design. It is also literally stuffed with new technologies, has a new platform and is fully electric. Modern Volvos already have a fairly minimalist interior, but the EX90 goes a few steps further by eliminating all physical buttons and switches, with the exception of one volume control. A 14.5-inch center touchscreen helps to control the car, and its new Google-based infotainment system also gets Google Maps and Google Assistant built-in. However, the EX90 is still a seven-seater, just like the XC90.
