Volkswagen Passat W8

Under the hood of the Volkswagen Passat is a truly unique engine: The 4-liter W8 with 275 hp. The W8 was produced for only four years, so used examples are quite rare.

Alfa Romeo GTV

The GTV is remembered for its engines, which helped Alfa Romeo win the Car of the Year and Best Sports Car awards in 1995. Initially, the Alfa Romeo GTV was produced with a 2-liter Twin Spark engine with 155 horsepower, followed by a 3-liter Busso V6 with 220 horsepower.

In 2010, Fiat gave its cute Twinair city car a tiny two-cylinder turbo engine. The automaker claimed that this unique offering could achieve excellent fuel economy. Despite the fact that the engine has only 82 hp, it is mild enough for city driving, although it takes 11 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour.

Mazda RX-8

The RX-8 is a performance sports coupe powered by a 1.3-liter rotary engine. In fact, it was the last Mazda to offer this great high-speed engine type. The power may not seem like much, but the RX-8 can accelerate to 100 km per hour in 6.4 seconds, and the top speed is 234 km per hour. Among the disadvantages are rather high fuel costs.
