A loud sensation happened at the Biathlon World Cup, and the athlete from Greenland entered the top four
Swiss biathlete Lena Hecki Gross sensationally won the short individual race at the sixth stage of the World Cup, which is currently taking place in the Italian town of Antholz-Anterselva. The 29-year-old athlete, who has only once been on the podium this year, covered the 12.5 kilometer course in 36 minutes and 49 seconds.
Gross was one of four athletes who managed to knock out all 20 targets at four firing lines. She was joined by German Vanessa Vogt, Czech Jessica Jislová and Greenland's Ukalek Astri Slettemark, who finished the course in fourth, tenth and 45th place, respectively.
The silver medal in the shortened individual event in Antholz-Anterselva went to last season's big Crystal Globe winner Julie Simon, who was 20.2 seconds behind the winner. Her compatriot Lou Jeanmonneau won the bronze medal.
Ukrainian biathletes showed quite good results - three representatives of our country made it to the top 20. Anastasia Merkushyna finished 13th, losing exactly two minutes to Gross. Yulia Dzhima, who took 17th place, was 24 seconds behind her compatriot. She was followed by another Ukrainian, Iryna Petrenko.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukrainian biathlete Artem Pryma sensationally entered the top 10 of the short individual race among men at the World Cup in Anholz-Anterselva.
