"There have never been such conditions before": the leader of the Ukrainian biathlon team tells about the horror at the World Championships

Pidruchnyi speaks about the start of the World Cup

The captain of the Ukrainian biathlon team, Dmytro Pidruchnyi, called the conditions of the World Championships, which started the day before in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, disgusting. The leader of the Yellow and Blues noted that the track was a real "mess" after a storm hit the city before the start of the tournament.

Pidruchnyi told Suspilne about this, commenting on the results of the mixed relay, where our team finished in seventh place. According to the 32-year-old representative of Ternopil, this is the first time this season he has encountered such conditions, which require biathletes to spend much more energy on the course.

"At the stadium, they sprinkled saltpeter on everything, so the track doesn't break down as much. But on the other parts, especially on the descents, it's in a terrible state. Of course, this requires some effort: you have to work twice as hard to stand on the descent and not fly off to the side in this "porridge". This also affects the shooting: the wind changes frequently, and the flags on the range are very wet and difficult to navigate because the wind does not lift them like dry ones. This season, these are some of the worst conditions we've ever seen," said Pidruchnyi.

It should be noted that on the eve of the championships, it became known that 28-year-old Minsk native Daria Blashko, who will no longer play for the Blue and Yellows this season, was expelled from the Ukrainian national team.
