The creators of the submarine that exploded en route to the Titanic will travel to the "Portal of Hell"

Guillermo Sonline, owner of Blue Marble Exploration and co-founder of OceanGate, announced the launch of a new scientific expedition to Dean's Blue Hole, also known as the "Portal of Hell," located in the Bahamas. He noted that this dive will honor the memory of all crew members who lost their lives during last year's Titanic operation.

On the official website of the enterprise, information about the upcoming research mission appeared, writes the Daily Star. However, over time, the publication, with an invitation to join the expedition, was removed.

"Portal of Hell" - one of the deepest ocean sinkholes in the world, which is characterized by unpredictable currents, extreme pressure and insufficient light. Due to the extreme conditions and remote location, it is quite dangerous to conduct research operations in this stretch of water.

Initially, the owner of Blue Marble Exploration invited everyone to join the scientific operation on the official website, but then assured that only qualified professionals would be on board the underwater vessel. In his opinion, this dive will be the best homage to the memory of the lost crew.

"Let's figure out what went wrong, let's learn the lessons and come back again. In any case, what we feel is an even stronger obligation to continue such search efforts," said Guillermo Sonline.

Despite last year's tragedy, the man believes that the new research crew will be completely safe and their lives will not be threatened. According to the owner of the company, he took into account all the mistakes of past experience, so a certified submersible will be used in the future expedition.

What happened to the Titan submarine

On June 18, 2023, while diving to the wreck of the transatlantic steamship Titanic, the OceanGate-owned submersible Titan had an accident. Communication with the submarine was lost 1 hour and 45 minutes after the dive.

Search operations continued for five days, and by the morning of June 22, the wreckage of the apparatus was found on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

As a result of the disaster killed the entire crew, among whom were: the general founder of the company Stockton Rush, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, British billionaire Gamish Garding and French researcher Paul-Henri Narjole.
