On the morning of December 5, a powerful explosion occurred in the Russian city of Taganrog, Rostov region. Residents of the city complained that the blast wave smashed windows in their houses and set off car alarms.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred at about 10:27 a.m. in the center of Taganrog on Gogolevsky Lane. Russians complain that there was a "loud bang" in the Western District that could be heard throughout the city.

Some expressed hope that the explosion was the result of air defense.
