Kyiv in 1966

The beauty of Kyiv has always attracted tourists, including foreigners. Back in 1966, Georg Oddner, one of the most prominent photographers of Sweden in the twentieth century, visited the capital of Ukraine and used his camera to capture and convey the shades of the city's life.

The archival photos were published in the community "Spraha: Kyiv is interesting" on Facebook. You can see what the capital looked like 58 years ago.

"Kyiv. This is how the Swedish photographer Georg Oddner saw the city and people of that time: "There is an element of poetry in reality, and I want to capture it." 1966," the post reads.

It is worth adding that Georg Oddner (October 17, 1923 - October 7, 2007) was one of the most prominent photographers in Sweden in the twentieth century.

We would like to remind you that the Ukraine Palace is the largest concert and artistic institution in Kyiv and our country today. However, its construction began in secret, and to obtain the appropriate permit, they provided documents that it was supposed to be a cinema.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, in the 1960s, the embankment near Poshtova Square and the Dnipro Cliffs in Kyiv looked a little different. And the beaches on Trukhaniv Island were much larger.
