Supermassive black hole located 55 million light years from Earth, scientists have shown in the highest resolution ever. And experts emphasize that such images may soon be more.

According to scientists, thanks to the unique Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), they were first able to see color images of a supermassive black hole. And also experts looked at the smallest details, writes TheSun.

According to the researchers, in previous images published in 2019, the supermassive black hole was illuminated by an orange ring, which has been dubbed the "Eye of Sauron".

But new photos published by scientists from the Center for Astrophysics at Harvard and Smithsonian Institutes (CfA) and the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) show the space hole glowing turquoise and red colors.

Scientists overlaid the latest photos on previous images to create an image with 50% more detail than before.

"To understand why this is a breakthrough, think of the burst of extra detail you get when you go from black-and-white to color photographs. This new 'color vision' allows us to distinguish the effects of Einstein's gravity from the hot gas and magnetic fields that power black holes and launch powerful jets flying over galactic distances," explained Shepherd Doleman, one of the researchers.
