The floods in Spain, which swept through the eastern and southern regions of the country, have begun to recede. The natural disaster claimed the lives of 95 people, and dozens went missing. Tons of water damaged Spaniards' property, created dumps of cars and mud on the streets, and flooded houses.

The city of Valencia, located on the east coast of Spain, felt the worst effects of the storms. OBOZ.UA has compiled a photo report from the places that were most affected by the DANA flood.

The state meteorological agency AEMET issued a red alert on Tuesday, October 29, with 200 mm of rainfall in some areas, such as the municipalities of Turis and Utiel in Valencia. The alert level was later downgraded to yellow as the rains had virtually stopped.

After the water began to recede, locals took to the streets to clean up the stones and mud. Many Spaniards' cars turned into scrap, and whole "cemeteries" of cars formed at intersections. The railroad was also blocked - the same piles of cars mixed with tree branches piled up on the tracks.

Not all of them were fatally damaged, however, as several cars were still moving on the streets and public transportation was occasionally available.

The death toll from the floods in Spain was the highest in Europe since 2021, when nearly 200 people died, mostly in Germany.
