Dovbyk joins Atletico Madrid
Ukraine forward Artem Dovbyk will continue his career with 11-time Spanish champion Atletico Madrid. The 27-year-old footballer gave his consent to the transfer on the eve of Euro 2024, and now the "Atleticos" are close to a transfer agreement with Girona, where our compatriot became a bronze medalist of La Liga and the best scorer of the championship.
This was reported by two leading Spanish publications - Relevo and AS. According to the journalists, after the captain of the Spanish national team Alvaro Morata left Atletico Madrid to join AC Milan, the Madrid club stepped up its attempts to acquire the Ukrainian goal-scorer.
The Red and Whites will pay €35 million for the Ukrainian, five of which will be various bonuses. The deal should be closed in the coming days.
Dovbyk was a real sensation in the last Spanish league. He became a Girona player in August 2023 and immediately won a place in the first team. The Ukrainian has played 39 matches for the Catalans in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and providing 10 assists.
