American Film Academy adds to the international Oscar shortened series

The international abridged version of the Oscar 2024 awards ceremony includes a cut part with a speech by director Mstyslav Chernov and the presentation of a statuette to the documentary film "20 Days in Mariupol." The edited version will be shown by Suspilne, which initiated the appeal to the American Film Academy.

This was the end of the scandalous story with the outrageous shortening of the ceremony, in which Ukrainians did not find an important film awarded. Suspilne reported on the satisfactory resolution.

"Following an appeal from Suspilne Broadcasting and the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting, the Academy added an international abridged TV version. And the Disney company, which is engaged in international licensing of the show, sent an updated shortened version to broadcasters around the world," the statement said.

A shortened version of the Oscars 2024 will be available to watch on March 22, Friday, at 20:00. Previously, the screening was scheduled for March 11, but it was postponed due to the cut-out of the award ceremony for 20 Days in Mariupol.

Earlier, the film company stated that the selection of categories and moments to be included in the 90-minute version takes place before the show starts.

It's interesting that last year, the award segment for the film about Alexei Navalny was in the shortened version of the Oscars. Then the wife of the so-called oppositionist spoke from the stage.
