On the night of Wednesday, March 13, Russian occupation forces attacked the city of Sumy with Shahed kamikaze drones. There were explosions, and an apartment building was hit.

This was reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration. They published footage of the aftermath of the enemy strike, which shows significant destruction.

"All emergency services are working at the scene. The consequences of the air strike are being clarified," the Regional Military Administration added.

It should be noted that at 1:27 a.m., the Ukrainian Air Force warned about the threat of the Shaheds to the city. "Sumy - there are enemy UAVs in the city area. Stay in shelters," the message said.

The RMA urged residents of Sumy region to be attentive and cautious and always go to the shelter after the alarm is announced.

In the morning, the RMA reported that 30 apartments in the five-story building were damaged, 15 of them destroyed .

"According to preliminary information, 10 people have been rescued from the rubble, 8 of whom suffered injuries of varying severity. Unfortunately, there are some dead (information is being clarified)," the administration said.

The rescue and search operation is ongoing.

The acting mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar, told Suspilne that the three floors of the high-rise building have "completely collapsed." He regrettably suggested that the neighboring entrances would have to be demolished.

The head of the city military administration, Oleksiy Drozdenko, noted that the "Shahed" hit the third floor of the building. According to preliminary estimates, up to 50 apartments were damaged, about 20 of them were completely destroyed and cannot be restored.

As OBOZ.UA reported, Russian occupation forces struck Sumy on Thursday, March 7. As a result of another attack, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.
