Autumn on Khreshchatyk

Khreshchatyk Street has always been a favorite place for walks for Kyiv residents and visitors. In 1983, an unknown amateur photographer took pictures of the center of the capital when its colors were diluted by autumn.

The old photos were published in the community "Thirst: Kyiv is interesting" on Facebook. You can see how this location looked like more than 40 years ago.

"Autumn on Khreshchatyk, 1983," the post reads.

The published photos show what the street looked like near the metro station of the same name.

As a reminder, the village of Darnytsia Carriage Repair Plant, better known as DVRZ, was founded in Kyiv in 1934. At that time, these were two- or three-story buildings that looked almost like palaces due to their stucco moldings and appearance.

The capital's Rusanivka residential area is completely surrounded by an artificial canal, which gave this area the popular name of "Kyiv Venice". In the 1980s, a series of photographs were taken here that captured the beauty of this location.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, in 1970 the water level in the Dnipro River in Kyiv was very low. Because of this, large shoals could be seen between the islands located between the left and right banks of the city.
