The long-awaited second season of Squid Game releases on Netflix
The long-awaited second season of the cult South Korean series Squid Game has finally premiered on Netflix. Viewers can already watch all seven episodes that continue the story around the dangerous game.
The series' return aroused great interest among fans, as the first season became a record-breaing hit. The main character, Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jong-jae), known as Player 456, is back too.
After the dramatic events of the first season, he reenters the deadly game in order to stop the people behind it. The hero faces new challenges that not only threaten his life but also force him to fight the mysterious Frontman, whose true motives remain a mystery.
Synopsis
The story takes place three years after the first season finale. Gi-hun decides to abandon his plans for a new life abroad and returns to the game to uncover the truth about its organizers. The season also introduces new contestants who compete for the 45.6 billion won prize.
Lee Jong-jae said that creating the second season was a big challenge. "I did feel a bit of a pressure, but I also, just like Director Hwang, wanted to use that as a positive driver," he said. This particular season has already been nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the Best Drama Series category.
Cast
Lee Jong-jae, Lee Byung-hun (Frontman) and Wi Ha-joon (Detective Hwang Jun-ho) are back too. Among the newcomers are Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and many others. Their characters promise to add intrigue to the plot.
