In Malaysia, the legendary Shah Alam Stadium, once the architectural gem of the country and one of the largest stadiums in the world, was demolished. The key moment of the dynamite explosion was captured on video and went viral on the Internet.

"For decades, Shah Alam has served as the home of the Malaysian national team and the Selangor FA football team, known as the Red Giants.

Opened in 1994, the stadium quickly became a sports icon not only for its impressive capacity of 80,372 fans, but also for its historical significance as a venue for major sporting and cultural events.

The stadium was the main venue for the 1997 FIFA Youth World Cup, the first such tournament to be held in Southeast Asia.

After the building began to deteriorate morally and technically, the authorities decided to dismantle it to make way for a new modern sports complex.

Demolition began in July 2024 and is scheduled to be completed in 2025, with the new sports complex expected to be ready by 2029, but with a capacity of only 45,000 spectators.
