The captain of the Ukrainian national futsal team, Petro Shoturma, suffered a serious knee injury in the semifinal match of the World Cup against Brazil. The episode happened in the first half.
In the 15th minute, Petro got into a fight for the ball with an opponent. The Brazilian player fell on our compatriot's foot, and Petro was unable to get up from the floor.
The medics did not even risk turning the Ukrainian over, and in the position he fell, they loaded him onto a stretcher. The 32-year-old from Ivano-Frankivsk was hospitalized.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, in the 1/4 finals, Oleksandr Kosenko's team beat the main sensation of the tournament – the Venezuelan team (9:4). The last time Ukraine played in the 1/2 finals of the World Cup was in 1996.
The day before, in the 1/8 finals, Venezuela sensationally beat Spain. The match in Andijan ended with a score of 2:1. On September 24, in the 1/8 finals, the Ukrainians beat the Netherlands 3-1.
