The manor was demolished without any permission.

The owners will restore the Zelensky mansion at 22 Konyskoho Street, which they demolished in the summer, at their own expense. This will be possible after the investigation into the destruction of the historic building is completed.

This was announced at a briefing by the director of the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection Maryna Solovyova, an OBOZ.UA correspondent reported. Currently, the area is guarded by police around the clock.

The two-story Zelensky mansion, located at 22 Konyskoho Street, was demolished on July 19 without the consent of the Kyiv City State Administration. The house was built in the late 19th century of wood and brick.

Unfortunately, the building did not have a state protection status, but its destruction caused a great public outcry. The manor received the status of an architectural monument of local significance four days after the demolition.

"We went to court over the unauthorized demolition. A criminal investigation was opened, and the remains of the building were arrested. After a public outcry, the owners of the building themselves turned to the Kyiv City State Administration with a proposal to rebuild the manor house in its original form, which they had demolished. A memorandum was signed with the owner, which defines the general conditions of the restoration. We have found an architect-restorer who is now working on the case," said Solovyova.

For his part, architect Bohdan Yurchenko said that architectural measurements and engineering studies are now planned, as well as an examination of the preserved part of the building. However, it is impossible to start this now because the building is material evidence in criminal proceedings.

As the Kyiv police press service explained, while the investigation is ongoing, it is not possible to dismantle the rubble and conduct an architectural examination.

"We are currently conducting an investigation as part of criminal proceedings. We are guarding the evidence around the clock. As soon as all the procedures are completed, the permission to conduct an examination will be granted," summarized Anna Zubrieva, spokesperson for the Shevchenkivsky Police Department.

The Zelensky mansion is a wooden, brick-built building that was built in 1890 by the merchant Vasyl Malin. It is one of the oldest buildings on the street. It became famous due to the fact that in the period from 1911 to 1915 a family of wealthy burghers Zelensky lived here.
