The new affordable and economical Honda Freed model for the 2025 model year was named the best car in Japan. At the same time, the practical car has taken a confident lead over its rivals in the Japan Car of the Year competition.

This became known thanks to information on the website of the Japan Car of the Year (2024-2025) competition. A total of 31 models of new cars from various brands took part in the competition.

The best cars of Japan Car of the Year:

• Honda Freed – 220 points;
• Mazda CX-80 – 196 points;
• Mini Cooper – 172 points;
• Suzuki Fronx – 110 points;
• Lexus LBX – 70 points;
• Hyundai Ioniq 5 N – 52 points;
• Toyota Land Cruiser 250 – 44 points;
• BYD Seal – 32 points;
• Volvo EX30 – 30 points;
• Mitsubishi Triton (L200) – 18 points.

As you can see, the new Honda Freed with a price of less than $20,000 scored 220 points and was far ahead of the nearest car.

A jury of Japanese journalists selected the winners (listed above) in various categories. For example, the best imported car of the year, the design award, and the most technologically advanced car.
