The Internet shows how VDNKh in Kyiv looked like in the 1960s. Archival photos

The National Expocenter of Ukraine (VDNKh) in Kyiv was founded in 1940, and nowadays it is a favorite place for walks for Kyiv residents and visitors. Thanks to the work of photographers, we can see what this place looked like in the 1960s.

The old photos were published on social media. The photos show the place as it was about 60 years ago.

The published photos show not only the complex itself but also special trolleys that allowed people to comfortably get to any of its locations.

The National Complex "Expocenter of Ukraine" is located in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital near the Kyiv metro station of the same name. The territory of the expo center directly borders the territories of the Feofaniya Clinical Hospital, the Institute of Beekeeping, and the National Museum of Beekeeping of Ukraine. It includes 180 buildings and structures, 20 of which have the status of architectural and urban planning monuments of local importance in Ukraine.

As a reminder, the village of Darnytsia Carriage Repair Plant, better known as DVRZ, was founded in Kyiv in 1934. At that time, these were two- or three-story buildings that looked almost like palaces due to their stucco moldings and decoration.

The capital's Rusanivka residential area is surrounded by an artificial canal, which gave this area the popular name of "Kyiv Venice." In the 1980s, a series of photographs were taken here that captured the beauty of this location.
