The first in history! The most famous record of the legendary Bjørndalen is broken at the Biathlon World Championships

The leader of the Norwegian national team, Johannes Bø, has become the first ever 21-time world biathlon champion. On Saturday, February 15, the 31-year-old native of Sturn won in Lanzerheide, Switzerland, breaking the gold record of the legendary Ole Einar Bjørndalen, who has 20 medals of the highest level.

Bø won the 10 km sprint, showing a perfect score in the shooting (10/10). His time was 27.7 seconds faster than that of American Campbell Wright, who also made no mistakes at the firing line. The bronze medal went to Frenchman Quentin Fillon-Maye, who was 37.0 seconds behind despite one miss.

In terms of total career wins, Björndalen is still ahead with 95 wins, while Bø has 89.

As a reminder, Bø has decided to retire after this season. The athlete explained his move by wanting to spend more time with his family, emphasizing that preparing for the Olympic Games requires too much time and effort from both him and his family.
