The event of the year! Two famous Ukrainian football clubs officially unite into one team

In Lviv, starting in the 2025/2026 season, Karpaty and Rukh football clubs will become one team playing in the Ukrainian Premier League. This decision was officially announced on the websites of both clubs and explained by the need to strengthen the position of Lviv football at the national and international levels.

"Starting in 2020, Karpaty managed to rise from the amateur level to the UPL by building a professional infrastructure, an international scouting system, and a developed children's and youth football school. The club has not only gained sporting success, but also gathered loyal fans.

"Rukh has made its way from the regional championship to the elite division, creating a European-level sports center and one of the best football academies in Ukraine. Over the years, the club's academy has trained dozens of players for national teams of different age groups and helped preserve a whole generation of young Lviv talent that could have been lost in the city's difficult times.

According to the plan, after the merger, Rukh will focus on training young players and adapting them to professional football, while Karpaty will represent Lviv in the top division and fight for leadership.

"We are confident that the synergy of our potentials, assets, and achievements will lead to an increase in the number of quality European-level players who will bring real glory to Lviv football," the two clubs said in a statement.

The decision was a response to the challenges of the times and a desire to raise Lviv football to a new level. The fans are promised a bright future and many reasons to be proud of their favorite team.

After the winter half of the season, Karpaty are sixth in the UPL standings. "Rukh is seventh.
