How can you determine the best city in the world that tourists will definitely want to visit? For example, ask how much the locals like it.

The Express writes that 97% of Cape Town residents said in a survey that they liked their city. In general, the city topped the ranking of the 50 best cities in the world in 2025 according to Time Out.

The advantages of Cape Town are its beauty, richness of historical sites, and richness of culture. The top 5 also includes Bangkok, New York, Melbourne, and London.

To compile the list, Time Out surveyed more than 18,500 city dwellers. They were asked to share a variety of experiences about their city, from local food to nightlife, culture to accessibility and overall impression.

But this was not the only factor in choosing the best city. A group of 100 experts also had to name the most exciting places on the planet right now. Then these scores were compiled into a single list.

Cape Town received high marks in several areas. Thus, 82% of residents called the city beautiful, and 97% said they felt happy here.

What can tourists like about Cape Town? For example, there is a colony of African penguins that you can watch with your own eyes. The city also produces world-class wines. The city offers Blue Flag beaches for seaside vacationers. And, of course, there is an unusually picturesque nature around. The nightlife never stops here, and you can taste many delicious dishes.

The city is one of the three capitals of South Africa, and one of its most famous attractions is Table Mountain. It is located in the center of Cape Town and offers many hiking routes and incredible views in all directions. You can get to the top by cable car and then wander around the Table Mountain National Park. However, experienced tourists advise to go for such a walk early in the morning to avoid crowds of tourists.
