If you have been waiting for a cheaper version of the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset to appear next year, get ready to be patient. Insiders report that the tech giant has postponed the launch of the new product.

According to a reputable insider Ming-Chi Kuo on social network X (formerly Twitter), Apple Vision Pro is unlikely to go on sale before 2027. The reason for this delay is Apple's uncertainty that even the cheaper version of the gadget will be in demand. In particular, because there are not enough scenarios for its use. The currently available expensive model has not met the expectations of the manufacturers.

Instead, the Cupertino-based tech giant intends to focus on the production of a new Vision Pro with a more powerful M5 chip. Analysts expect its release next year.

It is expected that the cheaper version of Apple Vision Pro will have less advanced features, but will cost about $2,000. It was predicted that it would be equipped with an A-series chipset, not an M-series one, as well as a screen with a lower pixel density – 1500 ppi, not 3391 ppi, as in the first version of the headset.

Earlier it was reported that Apple is considering which version of the display to put on the headset. Two options in the works involve adding a color filter to the OLED panel, but one of them requires a second layer, which may affect the thickness of the device. From this point of view, the developers found a glass-based version of the OLED display with a color filter applied – red, green, and blue. This could potentially provide better brightness than the original Vision Pro.
