Teenagers from all over the world are addicted to deadly entertainment: what is chroming and why does the Ukrainian police reassure everyone

A new flash mob promoting the inhalation of toxic substances from nail polish remover, permanent markers, aerosol deodorants, and other household products is actively spreading online. More and more teenagers around the world are joining the trend called "chroming" or "huffing."

The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, also drew attention to this. In his Telegram channel, he noted that inhaling such substances has serious consequences for children's health and lives.

"I urge parents to be vigilant to the dangers that lie in wait for children on the Internet and to be conscious of cyber threats. The more children know about the possible risks, the more protected they will be, in particular from manipulation, cyberbullying, and dangerous online trends," emphasized Lubinets.

Chroming causes a short-term euphoric state, but it can lead to damage to the brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, and other organs. Moreover, it can lead to addiction and even death.

In most of the videos analyzed by the experts, teenagers use markers – 31% and aerosol air fresheners – 17%, Patriots of Ukraine reports. In addition, children inhale nail polish fumes, gasoline, and deodorants.

At the same time, the National Police reassured parents and assured them that there is no information about the spread of chroming among children in Ukraine. Moreover, its spread has not been recorded on social networks used by Ukrainian schoolchildren.

According to the government agency, the trend is common among teenagers abroad.
