South Korea to restrict exports

South Korea will tighten export controls over Russia and Belarus. These are high-priority technology goods, including chips and anything that could potentially be used for military purposes.

This was announced on Monday, February 26, by the South Korean Ministry of Commerce, Yonhap reports. The country has added 682 items with actual or potential military use to the list of items that will be banned from delivery to Russia and Belarus.

"The ministry will strengthen the implementation of export controls in connection with related organizations, as there will be more attempts to evade export controls and seek to evade shipments," the statement said.

The ministry will particularly focus on monitoring exports of "common high-priority items," including chips that could be used in drones, with other partner countries, he added.

The innovation raised the total number of items on the list to 1159. The day before, the government also announced that it was investigating a South Korean company sanctioned by the United States for its ties to Russia.

Daesung International Trading was one of 93 organizations added to the "list of entities" for export restrictions by the US Bureau of Industry and Security.
