Customs officers found jewelry in a parcel

Customs officers found jewelry from Cartier, Bvlgari and Van Cleef & Arpels in an international parcel. The jewelry was shipped from Taiwan to Ukraine under the guise of steel beads worth a total of USD 60.

This was reported by the press service of Kyiv Customs. The found items were seized, and their real value will be determined by an expert examination.

"Kyiv customs officers found undeclared jewelry labeled with luxury brands Cartier, Bvlgari, and Van Cleef & Arpels in an international express parcel. The jewelry, which was heading from Taiwan to the recipient in Dnipro, was declared as steel beads worth a total of USD 60," the press service said.

During the inspection of the parcel, customs officers found 11 jewelry made of white and yellow metals inlaid with stones instead of steel beads. All the items were marked and labeled as jewelry. The customs officers immediately identified the transparent stones in the jewelry as diamonds using a rapid test. This was later confirmed by experts.

According to the experts, the shipment contained:

  • Six bracelets with Cartier markings from the "LOVE" collection made of white, yellow and pink gold alloy, encrusted with diamonds.
  • A bracelet and three rings marked Bvlgari from the Serpenti Viper collection in white gold alloy, encrusted with diamonds.
  • A Van Cleef & Arpels hallmarked ring from the "Magic Alhambra" collection in yellow gold alloy with an onyx insert.

"Kyiv Customs drew up a report on violation of customs regulations. The jewelry was seized until a decision is made in the case. Their value will be determined later," the press service said.
