Scientists warn of deadly insect attacks due to climate change

Climate change may expand the habitat of mosquitoes that transmit pathogens such as malaria, dengue fever, and Zika virus. Diseases caused by malaria mosquitoes claim more than 2 million lives every year.

American scientists have reported a change in the geographical range of dangerous insects. Representatives of the Los Alamos National Laboratory published the results of their research in the Journal of Climate Change and Health (JCCH).

According to the study, nine species of mosquitoes have responded resiliently to climate change, indicating a potential threat.

High temperatures can lead to the migration of insects to the north, to the poles. At the same time, areas near the equator may become too hot for living things.
