Scientists named a deadly bacteria after Keanu Reeves: the actor reacted with humor
Canadian actor Keanu Reeves ' famous role in The Matrix and John Wick inspired scientists so much that they decided to name a deadly molecule in his honor. In February 2023, researchers from the Leibniz Institute in Germany discovered a new bacterium, which was named "kyanumycin".
One of the scientists, Sebastian Goetze, said that the open type of lipopeptide is so effective at killing that they simply had to name their invention in honor of Keanu Reeves, who is "deadly in his roles."
By the way, the bacterium does not cause any harm to humans, but it is dangerous for pathogenic fungi on the body of living beings and fungal diseases of plants. Reeves couldn't help but comment on the scientists' decision, so he took to social media to share his thoughts on the matter.
On the Reddit Ask Me Anything platform, the artist wrote: "They should have called it John Wick... but this is pretty cool... and surreal for me. But thanks, scientists! Good luck and thank you for helping us."
Back in 2014, Keanu played the lead role in the action movie John Wick, the second part of the project was released in 2017, andthe third part in 2019 . All three films received good reviews from critics. The film tells the story of an ordinary, seemingly average American who leads a quiet, peaceful life. However, few people know that he was a hired killer, and, by the way, one of the best professionals in his field.
