Scientists have shown what life on the Moon will look like: Prada suits, houses printed on a 3D printer, and even a railroad. Photo
A discovery by Italian scientists, who for the first time managed to find a cave on the Moon's surface, could speed up the process of exploring life on the Earth's satellite. Scientists have suggested that the inhabitants of the space object will be able to live in 3D-printed houses and play football on a laser-cut field.
NASA, as part of the Artemis program, plans to create a research base that will help to find out the specifics of the conditions of existence on the celestial body, the Daily Mail reports. The first inhabitants of the Moon will be dressed in protective spacesuits developed with the help of Prada brand specialists.
NASA representatives are planning to establish scientific bases on the surface of the Earth's satellites by the end of this decade to start long-term research. Experts are developing multi-step protection that will protect astronauts from harmful radiation.
"The conditions on the Moon are harsh. No atmosphere would support life, and the temperatures are extreme, from extremely low to very high," explained Dr. Daniel Brown.
Director of Space Engineering Matthew Cosby noted that the construction of the space base will be gradual. The first step will be to create the basic conditions for the existence of people and robots on an unexplored surface. The developers of the Artemis program will provide workers with necessities: housing, transportation, and infrastructure for electricity generation. According to the scientists, the houses will have beds, toilets, laboratories, and exercise equipment.
"For this purpose, a significant amount of research has been conducted on the use of lunar regolith (soil) in the construction of lunar habitats. It can either be used as a source of material for a 3D-printed shell or as a cover for a habitat created on Earth and sent to the Moon," said Matthew Cosby.
Residential complexes are planned to be located underground so that astronauts can take off their spacesuits and walk around in their normal clothes. In addition, scientists want to try to grow food in space, because workers will have to spend a lot of time there.
Under favorable conditions, a small city filled with residential and entertainment complexes could be created on the lunar surface. Scientists do not rule out the possibility of creating a full-fledged railroad.
