In England and Wales, schools use therapy dogs, prize vouchers, wellness sessions, taxi rides, and shepherd's huts to get students to attend classes. This is how educational institutions fight absenteeism.

Some schools offer rewards in the form of vouchers for full attendance, according to The Guardian. A new bicycle is raffled off among the most successful students at the end of the year. However, school administrators say that students need more than just prizes.

"There are lamps and carpets, it's a beautiful open space. It doesn't look like a school. We know it works. Students who had very low attendance are coming regularly, on time, and happy, and that's important because they won't learn if they hate this place," says Nadia Yassien, head of the support program.

Still, attendance has increased by 79%. In some cases, this situation depends on parents. In addition, educational institutions engage mental health professionals.

The attendance improvement system examines the obstacles that children face and helps to create a plan to overcome them. For example, there are cases when a student needs to call a taxi and pick him up at a certain time before he gets into the daily routine.
