Netflix's dark horror movie Gerald's Game, based on Stephen King's novel of the same name, caused viewers to "feel nauseous and faint" after watching it. Any adaptation of the 76-year-old writer's books, including It, Pet Cemetery, and Carrie, has turned out to contain many horrifying moments.

In recent years, Netflix has acquired the rights to adapt many King'

novels, as well as to create its own adaptations. Gerald's Game, starring Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood, is one of the films created exclusively for the streaming platform, The Sun reports.

The 2017 film follows a couple as they try to revitalize their marriage by renting a house by the lake. After the husband dies unexpectedly during foreplay, the wife is left handcuffed to the bed frame and has to fight to survive and free herself. Soon, the heroine begins to see hallucinate, facing her own demons.

Even though Gerald's Game was released seven years ago, one Netflix user recently asked other subscribers what they thought of it,

"Good movie, but the book is even better!"

"I liked it. I saw it three times."

"Okay, I really almost fainted. Gerald's Game was on pause for ten minutes. I've never had a movie affect me like that before."

"I can't believe it affected me like that, I swear I've seen worse. But I really felt sick. I had to run to the bathroom and everything."

Despite the movie's frightening scenes, Gerald's Game boasts an impressive 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.
