On the night of Friday, November 8, the troops of the aggressor country Russia attacked Kharkiv with anti-aircraft missiles: arrivals were recorded in the city center, where the Russians damaged historical buildings, and in the Saltivskyi district they hit a 12-story building, destroying several floors of the entrance. Twenty-five people were injured, including a baby.

People were still being searched for under the rubble, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said on his Telegram channel. According to him, strong explosions in the city occurred around 03:00 and 03:40.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, administrative buildings and residential buildings were damaged. According to Terekhov, the enemy attacked the historic district in the city center.

At the same time, the entrance of the building from the 1st to the 3rd floor was partially destroyed in a high-rise building in Saltovka and a fire started. The surrounding buildings were damaged.

Initially, 16 people were reported injured. People were trapped on the third floor. A three-month-old baby suffered an acute stress reaction. Five of the victims were hospitalized, while others were treated on the spot.

"There are people under the rubble. There is a fire. A search and rescue operation has been launched," the mayor wrote.

After 05:30, the head of the OVA, Oleh Syniehubov, said that the number of victims had increased to 22, ten minutes later to 24, and even later to 25.

"Medics, rescuers, and public utilities are working at the site of the impacts, and a rapid response team is already boarding up windows in the houses damaged by the shock wave," he wrote.

According to him, the enemy insidiously attacked the city of Kharkiv with a population of millions at around 03:30. Once again, the Saltivka and Shevchenkivskyi districts came under attack from the KABs. All night and morning in Saltivka, rescuers continued to clear the rubble from the enemy's hit on a high-rise building.

"25 people were wounded, five of them were hospitalized in medical institutions, their condition is moderate to light. We evacuated 30 people, including four children," said the head of the JMA.

At the site of the impact, the entrance of the building from the first to the third floor was partially destroyed. Residential buildings nearby, five cars, and the exits of the metro station were also damaged.

In addition, in the very center of the city, Russian airstrikes hit open territory, damaging historic buildings, public places, and residential buildings.

Another hit was near a residential area in the central part of the city. At least six multi-storey buildings, shops, trade pavilions, cars, and metro station exits were damaged. No one was injured there.

"Such strikes with 500-kilogram bombs are targeted terror of the enemy! We thank all the services and volunteers who are saving people and eliminating the consequences!" emphasized Syniehubov.

The State Emergency Service reported that after the cynical Russian air strikes on civilians in Kharkiv, firefighters extinguished a fire on an area of 20 square meters that broke out at the site of a 12-story building hit by a KAB. Thirty people, including four children, were evacuated.

The State Emergency Service units, police, utilities, and volunteers continued to work at the site, and rescue operations were ongoing. Psychologists provided assistance to the victims.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov showed footage from Kharkiv, which was shelled by Russians. He said that 25 people, including a three-month-old baby, were wounded in the attack on a high-rise building.

In the central part of the city, there was a hit near a children's supermarket: this building and the surrounding ones were heavily damaged.

"The metro station, which is literally under the explosion site, survived, but all the underground exits were damaged – two of them very badly. There was no information about the injured from this place of arrival," he said.

A plane hit the ground near the Dry Fountain in the square between the buildings of the university in Derzhprom, and the fountain itself remained unharmed. The New Year's arrangement that had been set up near the fountain the day before was partially damaged.

"In Kharkiv, Russians targeted a high-rise building. Russians are also firing missiles at Kyiv region. Putin shows complete disregard for the West and international law. The terrorist just likes to kill civilians," responded the head of the OP Andrii Yermak.
