Russian football players were not allowed to enter Europe for the UEFA tournament
Russian players of the Armenian club Urartu have been denied visas to Estonia, where they are scheduled to play a UEFA Conference League qualifying match against Kalev Tallinn. According to LiveResult, citing Urartu's head coach Ivan Gunko, the club hoped to the last that the visas would be issued, but this did not happen.
There are 6 players from Russia on the Urartu team: Aleksandr Melikhov, Aleksandr Putsko, Oleg Polyakov, Anton Kilin, Leon Sabua, and Ivan Ignatiev. The meeting will take place on July 11 at the Kadriorg Stadium in Tallinn.
"At the moment, there is no such permission, so no player will take part in the game," Hunko said.
According to him, the team will have to play with a significantly reduced lineup.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, last July the Lithuanian Consulate in Armenia refused to issue Schengen visas to Russian citizens – midfielder Mikhail Kovalenko and assistant head coach Roman Monaryov. They missed the Conference League qualifying match with Narva Trans in Estonia.
