Russia has started to attack individual energy facilities more intensively - Ukrenergo

The enemy has changed the tactics of attacks on energy facilities

Russian occupants have changed the tactics of shelling the power system and started to attack individual energy facilities more intensively.

This was stated by the head of Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytsky.

He noted that this winter, the Russians have changed their tactics. Instead of massive missile strikes, they are launching more targeted and intense drone attacks on specific energy facilities.

"If last season they launched about 400 drones during the entire heating season, now they launch this many in a month or 3 weeks," Kudrytsky said.

As an example, the head of Ukrenergo cited the latest attack on the energy infrastructure of Dnipropetrovsk region. Back then, the number of drones launched by the Russians at power facilities was almost comparable to the number of drones that hit power facilities last winter.

"That is, the intensity has increased significantly. And they are clearly concentrating their efforts on a small number of facilities, unlike last year, when they tried to damage both substations and power plants in a carpet pattern. Now they are obviously using a niche tactic," he said.

Kudrytskyi added that the aforementioned attack in Dnipropetrovsk region was aimed at shutting down large industrial facilities.

As a reminder, the occupants recently attacked one of DTEK's frontline thermal power plants, injuring 9 power engineers.

In total, the occupiers have attacked the company's TPPs more than 40 times this winter.

Earlier, Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said that the Russians had changed their tactics of shelling the energy system and were now actively shelling energy facilities in industrial regions to damage Ukraine's economy.
