Socotra dragon tree, Yemen

These fantastic trees grow on Yemen's Socotra archipelago. They are so special not only because of their bizarre crown, but also because of their red sap. When it flows out, it looks like the tree is bleeding. It is striking that Socotra dragon trees can live up to 1000 years, and their resin is credited with medicinal properties.

Corpse flower, Malaysia

The world's largest flower grows in the jungles of Malaysia. Its diameter can exceed a meter. However, we do not recommend smelling it. This chloroparasite reproduces with the help of insects, which it attracts with petals that look and smell like rotten meat. However, the sight is truly incomparable.

Angel trumpets, Sri Lanka

The mountainous terrain of Sri Lanka itself is impressive with its endless green fields of tea bushes. And you can also find extremely delicate pale pink, white and yellow tubular flowers of brugmansia (angel trumpet) here. However, admire them from afar. This plant has a strong hallucinogenic effect and even sitting under it can be fatal.

Of the nine species of baobabs in the world, six are native to Madagascar. The huge, beautiful trees have a life expectancy of about 3000 years and are often called upside-down trees because their branches look very much like roots.

Imagine walking through a rocky desert and suddenly coming across a pebble with a flower. This is exactly what lithops look like. There are more than 140 species of these succulents. And they can even be grown indoors.

Monkey puzzle tree, Argentina and Chile

This beautiful tree has branches that look like frozen snakes. And its leaves resemble scales and prickle sensitively. Araucaria is endangered due to deforestation, although it has come to us since the time of the dinosaurs. Its fireproof bark and thorny trunk and leaves, which scare away herbivores, allowed it to survive for so long.

Mindanao gum, Indonesia

Possibly one of the most stunning trees on the planet, the rainbow eucalyptus seems almost unreal because of its bark, which comes in a multitude of shades ranging from bright green and purple to orange and bright blue. The healing and strikingly beautiful rainbow eucalyptus can be found in some parts of Indonesia, but it is now listed as a vulnerable species due to climate change and deforestation.

The flower of this plant is very similar to a starfish. But it is seems to be crocheted or knitted because its petals are covered with pile and very fluffy. The size of the flower can reach 25 cm. It also does not smell very pleasant. Like rafflesia, stapelia attracts pollinators in this way. And like lithops, it can be grown in a pot.

Red bugloss, Canary Islands

You will find these colorful flowers in the Teide National Park in Tenerife. They bloom in summer and it is an unforgettable sight. After all, its inflorescences reach three meters in height.
