"I wish our economy a recovery": Russian Olympic champion on the dictator's "achievements". How the network reacted
Four-time Olympic champion Alexander Tikhonov tried to suck up to Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, urging all Russians to look up to him. At the same time, the former biathlete expressed hope that Russia will see "economic recovery."
Tikhonov said this in a commentary to the propaganda TV channel Match TV, congratulating the residents of the aggressor country on the New Year. The winner of the 1968-1980 Games, with his typical sycophancy, admired the Russian president, who, in his 24th year in office, wished him "bold decisions" and an end to the war.
"I want to wish everyone good health, a quick end to the war in Ukraine (as the war in Ukraine is shamefully called in Russia - ed.), so that peaceful days for Russia can come, so that we can stop worrying about our guys. And I wish for the economy to recover as it should be in Russia. We need to focus on ourselves, the country should never copy anyone. Whom should we copy when we have always beaten everyone? Of course, Russians need to look up to the president. I wish Vladimir Vladimirovich good health and bold decisions," Tikhonov said.
Readers of the Sports.ru portal openly ridiculed the former athlete. "Do Russians need to constantly lie, cheat, live in a parallel universe and poop in a suitcase too?", "We should focus on ourselves but look up to the president", "It's funny, he has destroyed the economy, and they still want him to continue his dirty work," they write in the comments.
