On the night of August 9, powerful explosions occurred in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. According to media reports, a column of Russian armored vehicles was destroyed on the march near the village of Oktyabrskoye, Rylsky district, a fire broke out at the site of the impact, and detonation sounds were heard.

Local publics published videos of a massive fire in the area of the hit. One of them shows a highway completely blocked by cars on fire.

"The ammunition is burning," a man in the video comments.

Media reports say that the convoy was allegedly destroyed by HIMARS strikes.

As of 23:51, a missile threat has been announced in the Kursk region.

The governor of the region, Alexei Smirnov, urged residents to take shelter.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on August 6, the Russian Federation said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly broke through the border in the Kursk region, in particular in the Suzhansky and Korenovsky districts.

Local authorities reported that active fighting was taking place on the border in the Kursk region, with Russian troops' positions attacked in the area of Nikolaevo-Daryino and Oleshnya along the border.

According to ISW, Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region have allegedly advanced up to 10 km into the Russian Federation and reached positions along the 38K-030 Sudzha-Kornevo highway, overcoming at least two defense lines and an enemy stronghold.

On August 8, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin called on Kursk Governor Smirnov to be "courageous" in solving "difficult and extraordinary tasks."
