Uhrynów-Dołhobyczów checkpoint to be opened for empty trucks

The Uhrynów-Dołhobyczów checkpoint will be opened for empty trucks. This will be done tomorrow, December 4, at 01:00.

This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on December 3. "From 01:00 on December 4, 2023, empty heavy vehicles with a total permissible weight of more than 7.5 tons (except for empty untreated tanks) will be allowed to pass from Ukraine to Poland," the statement said.

As noted, the opening of Uhrynów is the first item on the list of measures being implemented to unblock the border, reduce queues and increase the capacity of the Ukrainian-Polish border.

Earlier today, Andriy Demchuk, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, said that the border traffic for buses, cars and humanitarian aid is not currently blocked. According to him, queues are observed at times when a large number of vehicles arrive at the border at the same time.

Denys Marchuk, deputy head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, noted that the blocking of the Ukrainian border by Polish carriers disrupts contracts for 2024 and can also lead to problems with fuel and lubricants. In general, downtime at the border leads to large losses for the Ukrainian economy.

"Besides, there is a general rise in global oil prices, which leads to higher prices. And we import a lot of oil, mostly from Poland. If there is further downtime, it will lead to higher prices in the country, and thus will entail the entire chain of higher prices for logistics and, accordingly, food," said the deputy head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, according to the State Customs Service, in November, the exports of Ukrainian products reached 9.2 million tons. Freight transport accounted for 783 thousand tons. The largest volume of exports passed through the Polish border - 282 thousand tons. And this volume is 40% less than before Polish carriers went on strike.
