Poles can block one of the checkpoints: SBGSU discloses details
Polish protesters may resume blocking traffic at the Shehyni-Medica checkpoint. The action is expected on June 9.
"According to available information, Polish farmers may block traffic in the direction of the Medyka checkpoint, which is opposite the Ukrainian Shehyni checkpoint. The blockade may begin on June 9 at 10:00 a.m. and will last until the end of September," the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine said in a statement.
It will be announced later which categories of vehicles will be hampered.
The protesters are again demanding to restrict imports of agricultural products from Ukraine. In particular, they are in favor of "reducing the import of grain to Poland," although such crops are still transiting the neighboring country. Similar one-day protests took place on May 10 at the Dovhobychuv-Uhryniv checkpoint.
"It looks like the second act of the play, which lasted from November last year to April 29, is starting after a month-long break. The new demand is as absurd as all the previous ones: "to reduce the import of grain crops to Poland from Ukraine," commented Danylo Hetmantsev, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, on June 4, Polish farmers resumed a partial blockade of the Ukrainian border. Trucks are not allowed to pass through the Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne checkpoint, and no truck can enter Poland from Ukraine.
