Places that are hard not to recognize: the network showed how the center of Kyiv looked like in the 1970s. Archival photos

In the 1970s, a series of photographs of the center of Kyiv were taken, thanks to which we can see the city from a slightly different perspective. For example, the church on Askold's Grave had a rotunda instead of a dome, and there was a bus stop for sightseeing buses on St. Sophia's Square.

The old photos were published on the Telegram channel of the "Kyiv Living History" community. You can see the capital of Ukraine as it was about 50 years ago.

The photos posted in the community show what the NSC Olimpiyskiy looked like before the reconstruction, how the church on Askold's Grave looked like with a rotunda instead of a dome, and the central streets of the Ukrainian capital.

In Kyiv in the 1970s, the water level in the Dnipro River was very low. As a result, large shoals could be seen between the islands located between the left and right banks of the city.

Kyiv has always attracted tourists with its architecture and large number of trees. In the fall, the city turned into an artist's palette, which was captured by a photographer's camera in the 1970s.
