Russian communists are demanding to find and punish those who destroyed the statue. Details and photos from the scene were published by Nexta.

"People's decommunization continues in Russia. In Astrakhan, for example, a monument to Lenin was demolished, leaving only his legs. The Communist Party demands to find and punish the perpetrators," the publication writes.

The published photos show the mutilated monument. The more or less surviving bust of the "leader of the world revolution" is lying on the ground, on a pile of rubble.

Only the legs of the statue are really left on the pedestal.

Earlier it became known that a monument to Lenin was accidentally dropped in Kazakhstan.

In the city of Altai, as can be seen from the video that appeared online, an excavator with a large bucket approached the monument from behind, hitting the monument and knocking it to the ground.

Local authorities assured that the monument would be restored and returned to its place.

Meanwhile, in Russia, a man tried to set fire to Lenin's mausoleum with a Molotov cocktail.
