Ukrainians honor heroes who died during the Revolution of Dignity

The Euromaidan began in Ukraine 10 years ago. The country has been celebrating the Day of Dignity and Freedom every year on November 21 since then. Residents and guests of the capital came to honor the heroes who died during the Revolution of Dignity on the Heavenly Hundred Heroes Alley in Kyiv.

This was reported by an OBOZ.UA correspondent. Ukrainians have proven that they are ready to fight for their independence and European future.

Thus, on the Day of Dignity and Freedom, many Kyiv residents came to the Heavenly Hundred Heroes Alley to honor the heroes who gave their lives during the Revolution of Dignity. Ukrainians leave flowers and flags near the portraits of people who died in those days, as well as light candles.

Every year on November 21, Ukraine honors the participants of two major historical events: the Orange Revolution of 2004 and the Revolution of Dignity of 2013-14. The holiday was established in 2014 and was named the Day of Dignity and Freedom.

The memorable date was established by Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko in 2005. Back then, November 22 was chosen as the date of Freedom Day, the day when people first came to Independence Square to protest against the falsification of the results of the second round of the presidential election. Viktor Yushchenko actually won the election, but it was attributed to Viktor Yanukovych, so Ukrainians defended their choice.

As OBOZ.UA reported, Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko congratulated Ukrainians on the Day of Dignity and Freedom. He emphasized that by coming to the Maidan 10 years ago, Ukrainians proved that they were and are ready to fight for their independence and European future.
