Occupants attacked Odesa and the region with attack drones: there is a victim, nine people were injured. Photos and video
On the evening of Thursday, November 7, the Russian army launched a massive attack with drone strikes on Odesa and Odesa district. The shelling killed one person and injured nine others.
Damage to civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings and a school, was recorded in the region. This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, on Telegram.
"A 46-year-old man who was driving a car at the time of the attack was killed by shrapnel wounds. My sincere condolences to the family and friends... Eight more people were injured, a 91-year-old woman had an acute stress reaction," he wrote in the morning.
Six of the victims were hospitalized. Others were treated on the spot. Elimination of the consequences of the enemy attack continues. All relevant services are working.
The explosions in Odesa and the outskirts of the city occurred around 23:00, the enemy directed "Shaheds" at the city.
"As a result of the attack by attack drones in Odesa and the area, private residential buildings were damaged, and several caught fire. Windows were smashed and the facade damaged in one of Odesa's educational institutions. Shrapnel damage also caused two gas pipes in Odesa to depressurize and catch fire. Windows were smashed in a number of buildings," the statement said.
The Odesa City Council has clarified that the night attack severely damaged one of the city's oldest schools, Lyceum 125 in the Kryva Balka neighborhood. The institution was fully repaired before the full-scale Russian invasion.
The school has broken windows, destroyed furniture and doors, and damaged the roof and heating system.
According to Olena Buynevych, director of the city's Department of Education and Science, the employees of the institution - the guards - are alive, they went down to the shelter in time.
It is also noted that private houses, warehouses, and vehicles were damaged. According to the acting mayor of Odesa, Oleksandr Filatov, a city operational headquarters will start working in the morning to help the citizens.
The State Emergency Service published footage from the Odesa region, noting that one person was killed in a cynical enemy attack, and nine others were injured. Rescuers, together with other services, eliminated the consequences of the night shelling.
Residential buildings in the private sector were damaged, and two of them caught fire. Psychologists of the State Emergency Service provided assistance to 15 people, including a child and a pregnant woman.
Rescuers also extinguished fires in warehouses and cars on the company's premises. The building of the educational institution was damaged.
SES pyrotechnics inspected the area for explosives.
Under the procedural supervision of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation was initiated into the violation of the laws and customs of war (Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the victim was a 46-year-old city resident who received shrapnel wounds while the car was moving.
In total, more than 20 private houses, an educational institution, a gas pipeline, a private enterprise's warehouse, and cars were damaged in the region.
"The inspection is ongoing, and a full list of destruction and damage is being established. On the ground, prosecutors in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies are documenting the consequences of Russia's armed aggression," the Prosecutor General's Office said.
