Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral, which suffered a terrible fire in 2019, has been fully restored. On December 7, one of the most important monuments in Paris will reopen its doors to visitors who will be able to enjoy its beauty and grandeur again.

According to the BBC, French President Emmanuel Macron has already visited the cathedral with his wife, Brigitte, so the public can see photos of the building from the inside. The politician thanked all the people involved in restoring the "soul of the country."

"You did your alchemy here on this site to turn charred coals into art," the statesman said.

The restoration of Notre Dame de Paris, which took five years, required 700 million euros from the national budget and the involvement of about 250 construction companies.

The reconstruction process was complicated and time-consuming, as the devastating fire damaged or partially destroyed a large number of ancient parts. For example, the largest organ in France, located in Notre Dame Cathedral, consists of eight thousand pipes, each of which was restored in a special workshop outside the building.

The famous The Vow of Louis XIII has also undergone some changes. The statue was completely cleaned of soot. However, a little lead was still left on the arm of the largest sculpture, as it has a "symbolic value".

It is interesting that most of the details inside Notre Dame de Paris have changed significantly after the restoration, as they have become much lighter. The fact is that the specialists removed not only the soot from the fire but also a large amount of plaque and dirt that had accumulated on the surface since the last restoration in the 1850s.

As a reminder, on April 15, 2019, a terrible fire broke out in the famous Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral, which is blamed for repair work. The fire was completely extinguished only after 12 hours of tireless work by specialists. The consequences of the fire were enormous, as the spire, clock and roof of the building collapsed.

The process of extinguishing the fire lasted a very long time because the fire could not be doused with large amounts of water. The fact is that the cathedral is built of stone, which could be destroyed by a sharp temperature drop.

The devastating fire damaged the main part of the building and most of the relics inside. Fortunately, firefighters and priests managed to save some valuable items. Among them are the Savior's Crown of Thorns, a fragment of the Cross of the Lord, the nail that was used to fix Jesus on the cross, and stained glass windows of the XII and XIII centuries.
