When we think of traveling to France, we often imagine romantic walks in Paris. But due to its popularity, the city has long suffered from a huge influx of tourists, which it can barely cope with.

Meanwhile, in the southeast of the country, picturesque Lyon is hidden, which is in no way inferior to the beauty of the capital. According to the Express, this city was recognized as the most convenient for walking in France.

First of all, Lyon pleases with its rather compact size. Its attractions are located about 15 minutes away from each other. Thanks to such a convenient layout and comfortable streets, Lyon offers calmer and more pleasant walks than the lively and crowded avenues of Paris.

It is especially pleasant to walk here in the fall. The temperature ranges from 4 to 10 degrees Celsius, there are no piercing winds, and even the rains are not often long.

Thanks to its rich Roman history and attractive architecture, tourists will never get bored in Lyon. The city is located at the confluence of two rivers, the Rhône and the Saône. It lies northwest of the French Alps.

Since there are many universities in the city, the local population is young and energetic. So there is no shortage of entertainment here. And the absence of the capital's tension creates a more pleasant and relaxed atmosphere than in Paris.

If you get hungry while walking around, finding a delicious restaurant or cafe will not be a problem. Numerous establishments offer a huge selection of gourmet French dishes and treat you to local specialties.

For those who prefer to explore Lyon at their own pace, you should take a stroll through the center, which is lined with cobblestone streets. The Colline de Fourvière is hailed an ideal place to contemplate the breathtaking views of the city.

At the end of November, Christmas markets begin to be set up in the squares of Lyon. Marché de Noël Lyon is an annual Christmas market that entertains the whole family. In addition, in early December, the city hosts the Festival of Lights, when the city is decorated with incredible light installations and projections.
